These are various doors seen while walking the streets of Parnu in the southern coast of Estonia.
Although they can appear somewhat dreary they come alive when seen at less distance. (see below)
Many doors are simply entries to homes. Often one door is left open during the day as a friendly gesture.
A closer view of this humorous door design as a church entry is not what we would have expected!
Themes such as the fruit on this door are less common than geometric designs.
Here is a closer view of the handcarved patterns which are enhanced by warm colors of paint.
These doors highlight the symmetry of the double doorways found in most public buildings.
It was not easy to know what went on in the buildings based on the entryways. Is the activity here harsh or straight- forward and dignified ?
These doors reflect the grandeur of their building and perhaps reveal a place of highly important activities.
